Frequently asked questions
How to join the Atmosphere Voluntary Carbon Credit Program:
1. Fill out the Introduction Form
In this form, you will be prompted to provide your information, information about your land (including Ownership Verification Documentation and KLM Google Earth Map File) and sign a non binding Letter of Intent.
2. Next you will be prompted to fill out the Land Storyline Form
In this form, you will provide us the history and storyline of your land and the use of your land. This form will turn into your carbon credit project description that will be used when your carbon credits created from your land are minted and listed of Verified Credits Exchange and Registry. This storyline provides the buyers of carbon credits with a reason to buy your carbon credits over other carbon credits. Therefore, it is important to give as much detail about your land.
3. Once you have completed both of these steps, Atmosphere Group LTD will schedule a LIDAR Satellite survey over your land to determine the number of carbon credits per acre your land offers.
4. You will then receive a Land Summary Report from this satellite survey with a Carbon Credit contract.
5. Once you have signed the Carbon Credit contract to ensure your participation in this program, Atmosphere Group LTD will send you your full Land Survey Report.
6. Next, Verified Credits LLC will review your Land Survey Report and your storyline.
7. Once Verified Credits LLC verifies that the carbon credits from your land are REAL and meet all of the specifications and requirements, your carbon credits will be minted and listed on Verified Credits Exchange and Registry website.
No, the land is surveyed by LIDAR via satellite and other technologies continually on an annual basis to quantify yearly carbon credits to the landowner. Each year an update to the survey can be conducted if the landowner would like to receive another year of carbon credit creation at no additional expense.
No, Verified Credits LLC pays for the upfront property property assessment report and shares this information with the landowner.
The Landowner is not required to pay upfront to receive the carbon credits from their land.
Credits are typically sold together with the Landowner, Verified Credits and any transactional credits and funds are disbursed on a prorated basis. Clients can elect to hold (or bank) their credits and sell later if they want to participate in future.
Identify the area to be sold or modified if different than historical use and discuss with Atmosphere Group LTD. To be developed or future modifications should be reported before credits are established for the following year. Atmosphere can then clearly identify and remove those lands for the following year survey. This has to be done well enough in advance and precisely so those lands can be excluded from receiving carbon credits in the next year. If lands are taken out of conservation prior to the 1 year term, there may be a liability to replace or repay the credits that were issued previously.
In this case the “first mover” has the advantage of getting their credits on the market before other groups with substantial lands who wish to participate in the program. There is no guarantee otherwise. Buyers are free to select the carbon credits that suit their ESG’s just like sellers in the oil markets may choose to get their oil from sellers whose regimes have clean hands and high environmental standards.
Verified Credits provides carbon credits on the existing biomass or baseline with an annual contract and no long-term commitments. This agreement can be extended annually allowing the landowner annual payments and the ability to store carbon credits if necessary.
Additionality is the property of an activity being additional by adding something new to the context. It is a determination of whether an intervention has an effect when compared to a baseline carbon in place.
It is important to encourage sustainability by what is currently in place and build on that instead of creating an opportunity to fix a situation. The Verified Credits (VC) program was made for the landowner first to protect the existing biomass on the property.
Absolutely, but not required. Verified Credits’ proprietary reporting technology provides detailed information to the landowner to help determine if wind, solar or EV charging are good additionality options.
The more sustainable you make a property ie. adding wind, solar or EV charging the more credits you can earn per acre.
If land is deforested to then qualify for credits you have a problem. The Atmosphere Voluntary Credit Program allows carbon credits on the existing biomass (baseline) that the landowner has in place and the landowner can then add wind, solar and EV to create more value.
No such approvals required. The voluntary program does not involve the government. Since companies buying carbon credits are participating in the program voluntarily. They can be purchased and sold from anywhere in the world.
